Bird Island Park 

 

Ginny Simpson used to take her kids to McDonald's after trips to the library because they wanted to play on the playground. That's when she decided the children of Ponte Vedra Beach should have a place for themselves. In what was once a place overgrown with weeds and dirt is now Bird Island Park, a joint effort of the private and public sectors. As part of the project, we were commissioned by Letita Smith in memory of her mother — Doris F. Westervelt — to design and produce this public art project in 2011. The mosaic amphitheater is located in Bird Island Park in Ponte Vedra, FL behind the public library.
